A lot of college football programs will try to stake the claim as being the best of all time. There are a lot of factors that could be used to make an argument for a dozen teams.

Recently, ESPN released a list of the 10 best college football programs of all time, with three current B1G teams making the cut. Ohio State, Michigan and Nebraska were all firmly inside the top 10, according to a formula from ESPN Stats & Info.

There are some interesting teams to make the list, including Yale out of the Ivy League and North Dakota State from the FCS ranks. The other eight to crack the top 10 are major power conference teams.

Below is a look at the top 10. Ohio State comes in at No. 3 with Michigan three spots down at No. 6. Nebraska rounds out the B1G’s representation, holding down the No. 8 spot.

National championships and winning percentages were the two primary factors involved in the formula. Which, honestly, really is the best way to do it.

ESPN did a list for the top 50 teams. Other B1G teams to make that list were: Penn State (12), Michigan State (28), Minnesota (29), and Wisconsin (50).
