The B1G had some explosive receivers in 2020, and at least three of those guys are returning for 2021 with big expectations.

On Thursday, Pro Football Focus College unveiled the five highest-graded wide receivers from 2020 that will also return next season. The two top spots were occupied by guys out of Oklahoma and Arkansas, but the remaining spots were all occupied by B1G stars.

The third through fifth spots were Ohio State’s Garrett Wilson, Penn State’s Jahan Dotson, and Indiana’s Ty Fryfogle. Of this group, Fryfogle was the conference’s WR of the Year for 2020:

The grades by PFF are sometimes hard to sort through as they take the entire body of work into consideration as opposed to just grading based on yards and touchdowns. For example, Wilson finished second of these three B1G receivers with 723 yards receiving and was third in yards per catch with 16.8. He did have six touchdowns.

Dotson led the B1G players on this list in catches (52), receiving yards (884), and touchdowns (8). Also of note, Dotson played with a revolving QB situation at Penn State in 2020 and alongside a run game that was missing its two best running backs in Journey Brown and Noah Cain for the season.

Fryfogle led the three B1G receivers in yards per catch with 19.5. After a solid start to his career, Fryfogle exploded into a dynamic deep threat in 2020. He would look to build on that and improve his NFL Draft stock in 2021.
