3 B1G teams rank among nation's best front sevens
You’ve heard about Michigan, Michigan State and Wisconsin’s offenses — probably all for different reasons.
But you should probably take notice of their front sevens.
Pro Football Focus ranks the Wolverines, Spartans and Badgers’ front sevens among the top five in college football. Michigan’s front seven is 2nd only to Georgia, Michigan State’s is 4th and Wisconsin’s is 5th, according to PFF.
Highest-graded front sevens in CFB
1. Georgia – 91.0
2. Michigan – 87.5
3. Oklahoma State – 82.0
4. Michigan State – 80.7
5. Wisconsin – 80.7 pic.twitter.com/htXXbYqcNk— PFF College (@PFF_College) October 19, 2021
The three teams are 4-6 in the B1G in total offense — Michigan at No. 4, Michigan State at No. 5 and Wisconsin at No. 6. The Wolverines and Spartans are set to face each other next week, meaning you’ll see two of the league’s top rushing offenses going against strong defensive fronts.
The Badgers allowed 38 points to Michigan last month, but kept the Wolverines’ running backs out of the end zone. Wisconsin’s defense is a big reason why the team is 3-3 considering the offense ranks 13th out of the 14 teams in the league with 19.7 points per game.
