Now that the 2021 schedule is nearing its close, the award season is starting to kick into full gear.

On Thursday, semifinalists for the annual Walter Camp Player of the Year Award were released, and the B1G is well represented.

No. 6 Ohio State is one of just two teams with two players on the list. Quarterback CJ Stroud and running back TreVeyon Henderson were both named among the 15 semifinalists. Also from the B1G, No. 9 Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker III and wide receiver Jahan Dotson of No. 23 Penn State were also named.

No. 3 Alabama is the other team with a pair of nominees, with linebacker Will Anderson and quarterback Bryce Young making the list.

Stroud currently has 2,675 passing yards and 25 touchdowns on 183-of-273 passing, with just 5 interceptions. Henderson has 937 rushing yards with 128 carries and 12 TDs, with an average of 7.3 yards per carry.

Walker III has 197 carries, covering 1,330 yards and 15 TDs. He currently leads the country in total rushing yards and rushing yards per game through nine games. Dotson is coming off a school record-setting 242 receiving yards last Saturday at Maryland, bringing his season total to 932 yards on 71 receptions.

There will be a list of five finalists announced on Dec. 2, with the winner announced on ESPN’s College Football Awards Show on Dec. 9.
