A coveted 4-star wide receiver from the Detroit area has narrowed down his list of interests to eight schools, and four of those are out of the B1G.

Tay’shawn Trent, a 4-star wide receiver and the No. 7 player out of the state of Michigan, released his Top 8 over the weekend. The talented pass catcher included both in-state programs in his final list, considering both Michigan and Michigan State. Two other B1G programs made the cut, as Trent still has Indiana and Penn State in the mix.

Outside the B1G, Trent has Cincinnati, Kentucky, Louisville and West Virginia in the mix.

Per 247Sports, Trent is listed as a 6-foot-4, 205-pound receiver who is one of the top players at his position in the 2022 recruiting cycle. He ranks as the No. 37 wideout in the class, as well as No. 267 overall.

Trent’s Top 8 is essentially a list of half the programs that have offered. He’s received 15 scholarship offers on the recruiting trail thus far. The other seven programs to show interest in the wide receiver are Akron, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Pitt, Syracuse, Toledo and Youngstown State.

Michigan has done some good work on the recruiting trail with the 2022 class already. The Wolverines have five verbal pledges, ranking No. 7 nationally and No. 3 in the B1G. Michigan State has just two commitments with the cycle.

Penn State’s 2022 class is the best of the four teams left standing from the B1G. The Nittany Lions have received pledges from seven players and rank No. 3 nationally and No. 2 in the conference right now. Indiana does not currently have any commits.
