Two B1G teams are still in the running to land four-star strong-side defensive end Monkell Goodwine.

On Wednesday, Goodwine released his top five schools that he’s still considering to continue his football career. Maryland and Penn State are the two B1G squads still in consideration after his announcement. There are also three SEC teams included: Alabama, Texas A&M and LSU.

Goodwine, a native of Fort Washington, Maryland, is a member of the 2021 recruiting class and has already received nearly two dozen offers. He’s been a heavy target for several premier programs in college football.

Goodwine is listed as a 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive end, per 247Sports. He’s ranked as the No. 5 player from Maryland and the No. 9 strong-side defensive end in the class. Overall, he’s listed as the No. 114 player in the cycle.

Maryland has already done some really good things on the recruiting trail with the 2021 recruiting class. Last week, Mike Locksley received a commitment from Demeioun Robinson, the No. 2 weak-side defensive end in the class and one of the top 50 overall players.

The Terps currently rank third in the B1G and ninth nationally with their 2021 class.

Penn State has been a little slower on the recruiting front with this class. Currently, the Nittany Lions have just three verbal pledges. PSU did receive a significant commitment from Landon Tengwall last week, a highly-touted offensive lineman who ranks as the No. 45 prospect in the class.

Goodwine would be a major addition for either school.
