A heavily-recruited defensive tackle who had previously committed to Michigan has released a new Top 10. While there are several B1G teams still in the mix, Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines are not included.

Alex VanSumeren released a new Top 10 on Tuesday morning, which included four B1G schools. The programs from the B1G include Michigan State, Penn State, Nebraska and Indiana. Alabama, Clemson, Texas A&M, Oregon, Arizona and Auburn are the other six teams still in the mix.

VanSumeren made his announcement with a short video post on Twitter. He initially committed to play at Michigan in mid-December of 2019 but decommitted this February.

Per 247Sports, VanSumeren is a 4-star defensive tackle who ranks as the No. 16 player at his position and the No. 193 overall prospect in the class. The 6-foot-3, 300-pound Essexville, Michigan native is a Top 5 player in his home state.

From 247Sports’ recruiting analyst Allen Trieu:

High-motor player with good twitch and explosiveness at his size. Puts a lot of time into strength and speed training and will be well ahead of the curve in that regard as he enters college. Can pursue and run down the ball and also shows great power as a bull-rusher.

VanSumeren is a member of the 2022 recruiting class and has received 20 offers.
