Two B1G schools are in the mix for one of the top wide receivers of the 2019 recruiting class.

On Monday evening, 4-star wide receiver Cornelius Johnson revealed his top five schools, which included Michigan and Penn State. The other three schools remaining in the mix are Alabama, Stanford and Notre Dame.

Johnson says he plans to announce his decision on Dec. 19, which is the first day of the Early Signing Period.

A Brunswick, Connecticut native, Johnson is ranked as a top 40 receiver in the 2019 class and is the No. 2 player from his home state. He’s ranked as one of 247Sports’ top 300 players.

Johnson held 19 offers, including several from B1G programs. In addition to Michigan and Penn State, the receiver had looks from Nebraska, Northwestern and Rutgers.

Michigan and Penn State are neck-and-neck in the recruiting race this season. The Wolverines currently own the second-best class of 2019 in the B1G while Penn State is at third. Nationally, Michigan ranks 11th and Penn State is 14th.
