5 B1G stars headline PFF's Team of the Week following Week 7
Despite several high-ranking B1G teams on a bye week, there were still big moments and big performances in Week 7.
No. 10 Michigan State survived a big test on the road by defeating Indiana 20-14. Minnesota had a big offensive performance as the Gophers took down Nebraska at home 30-23. Wisconsin’s defense came through with a big 20-14 win at home late Saturday night.
No game had a bigger impact in the College Football Playoff than Purdue shocking No. 2 Iowa on the road 24-7. The loss to Purdue hurts the chances for the Hawkeyes, but the path to Indy and the B1G Championship is still clear for Iowa.
On Sunday, Pro Football Focus handed out their Team of the Week with five B1G stars making a tremendous impact in Week 7:
- WR: David Bell, Purdue
- C: John Michael Schmitz, Minnesota
- Edge: George Karlaftis, Purdue
- LB: Leo Chenal, Wisconsin
- LB: Bryce Gallagher, Northwestern
The Play of the Week went to the trick play from Michigan State against Indiana. This was the play where quarterback Payton Thorne gave a handoff to his running back and then reversed it to the wide receiver. The pass wound up going to Thorne, who was heavily contested and caught it for a big 15-yard reception.
