With spring football in the books and the 2022 season still a few months away, projections have become the focus of the college football offseason.

This week, Athlon Sports shared its Top 25 teams for the 2022 season. Unlike traditional preseason rankings, Athlon’s Top 25 is based on projected finishes for 2022. Athlon projects that 5 Big Ten teams will finish in the Top 25.

Ohio State leads the way at No. 2, just behind projected national champion Alabama at No. 1. Athlon’s other College Football Playoff teams are defending national champion Georgia at No. 3 and Clemson at No. 4.

Here’s the full list of Top 25 teams from the B1G:

  • Ohio State – No. 2
  • Michigan – No. 6
  • Michigan State – No. 14
  • Wisconsin – No. 19
  • Penn State – No. 25

Iowa, Minnesota and Purdue, meanwhile, are all acknowledged in the “next tier” of teams just outside the Top 25.
