The B1G is hoping to recover after a lousy showing last week. While the national perception won’t change about the conference’s fall from grace after one week, a strong weekend would be the first step in the recovery process.

Saturday doesn’t provide us with a ton of those “must-see matchups,” but there are a few interesting games coming up this weekend.

Here are five bold predictions for Week 4 in the B1G.

Sports Betting in Big Ten Country

There is big news coming to the upcoming 2022-23 Big Ten football season (and NFL season). Ohio online sports betting and Maryland sports betting are on the way.

Nebraska-Michigan is closer than anyone expects

After suffering losses to Colorado and Troy, it’s easy to see why Nebraska is a three-score underdog to Michigan in Ann Arbor. Head coach Scott Frost has even said that things may get worse before they get better. For some reason, I think the Huskers may hang around with the Wolverines on Saturday. I’ll probably be dead wrong.

Zack Annexstad throws his first interception of the year

The true freshman walk-on has been sensational through the first three games of the season. Nothing spectacular, but he’s not thrown an interception all season and has Minnesota at 3-0 entering conference play. But Maryland’s defense is opportunistic. The Terrapins will be the first to get a pick off Annexstad.

Michigan State discovers its rushing attack

Mark Dantonio says year after year that running the football and being able to stop the run are the two most important aspects to the game. Well, the Spartans haven’t been able to run the ball very well in their first two games. MSU is averaging a B1G-worst 114 yards per game. With a week to prepare for Indiana’s defense, I expect the Spartans to find a ground game this weekend.

Jonathan Taylor doesn’t hit 100 yards vs. Iowa

Taylor has hit 100 yards in each of his first three games this season, but Iowa’s defense is a different animal. The Hawkeyes are allowing just 42 yards per game on the ground, and surrendered a total of 25 to Iowa State and Northern Iowa. Taylor and the Badgers offensive line is good, but the Iowa defense might be better.

One of the five undefeated teams suffers its first loss

In case you’ve forgotten, here are the five teams without a loss in the B1G: Penn State, Ohio State, Indiana, Minnesota and Iowa. Something tells me Penn State and Ohio State will be just fine. The other three might be in for a challenge. It’ll be surprising if Indiana, Minnesota and Iowa all make it through the weekend unscathed.
