Fans of both Ohio State and Michigan might want to mark their calendars for Sunday, Feb. 28. That’s when one of the nation’s top prospects in the 2022 class will be making his commitment decision.

Will Johnson, a 5-star cornerback out of Grosse Pointe, Michigan has set the date for his commitment. He is considering both Ohio State and Michigan, as well as USC. Those teams make up his Top 3 heading into his decision day.

The elite cornerback has received 28 offers on the recruiting trail during the cycle. Listing his Top 3 already, he’s eliminated powers such as Alabama, Oklahoma, Florida, Notre Dame, Penn State and Texas A&M from consideration.

According to 247Sports, Johnson is ranked as the No. 8 overall prospect in the 2022 recruiting class and is the No. 4 cornerback. He’s the No. 1 prospect out of Michigan and the Crystal Ball projections have the Wolverines as the leaders to land his pledge in a week.

From 247Sports national recruiting analyst Allen Trieu:

Great size and still growing. Has length, but is also filled in and looks like a prototypical outside cornerback prospect. Good athlete who excels on the basketball court and has shown top notch ball skills on the football field. Has the size and ball tracking ability to defend bigger outside receivers. Has good technique. Smooth in his backpedal and transition. Smart as far as zone coverage.

Johnson is the son of former Michigan safety Deon Johnson, who suited up for the Wolverines from 1991-94.
