The preseason accolades continue to roll in for multiple star B1G players as kickoff approaches. This time, Sporting News included six stars from the conference on its list of the Top 40 players entering the 2021 season.
Bill Bender provided a ranking of the 40 best players in college football entering the season, which included a half-dozen B1G names. Two of those cracked the Top 10 and all six were listed inside the Top 25.
Ohio State was the only team with multiple selections, landing three players in the ranking. Iowa’s Tyler Linderbaum was the highest-ranked B1G player on the list and the only one from the league to crack the Top 5.
Penn State and Northwestern each had one representative on this list, as well. Here are the six players from the B1G to crack the Top 40:
No. 5: Tyler Linderbaum, C, Iowa
No. 10: Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State
No. 18: Jahan Dotson, WR, Penn State
No. 20: Haskell Garrett, DT, Ohio State
No. 22: Garrett Wilson, WR, Ohio State
No. 23: Brandon Joseph, S, Northwestern
The top of the list was headlined by two quarterbacks: Oklahoma’s Spencer Rattler (No. 1) and North Carolina’s Sam Howell (No. 2). You can view the complete Top 40 from Bender at SportingNews.com.
