In the midst of a long run against Florida State on Saturday, Louisville running back Javian Hawkins was stripped of the ball.

Thankfully for Hawkins, a teammate scooped up the loose ball and avoided a turnover. But that didn’t stop Hawkins from disciplining himself for the fumble.

While the officials separated the pile of Cardinals and Seminoles going after the fumble, Hawkins began doing push-ups in what appeared to be a self-punishment for fumbling the ball. He was just feet away from where the ball ended up.

Soon after Hawkins started his punishment, teammates come over to console the Louisville running back. That didn’t stop Hawkins from getting in a few extra push-ups.

Even if Hawkins did lose the fumble, it would’ve hardly mattered much in the final outcome. At the time, Louisville led 31-14 and went on to win 48-16. But as a Cardinal coaching staff, it has to be nice to see players who care enough to discipline themselves before even leaving the field.
