Alabama facing 'tremendous amount of bias' from media, Paul Finebaum says
Paul Finebaum is sticking up for Alabama.
On Monday morning, the SEC Network host joined the WJOX RoundTable as he does each week to recap games from the previous Saturday and preview upcoming contests. And, of course, with the College Football Playoff captivating all of us in the final weeks of the season, that was one of the topics at hand.
Specifically, Finebaum was asked whether he thought the fifth-ranked Crimson Tide (10-1) were still in a good spot to earn one of the four spots in the field, assuming they get a win over Auburn in the Iron Bowl. His response was an interesting one, to say the least.

Finebaum believes Alabama is in great shape right now, but faces one big challenge
“In my mind, they are in great shape. You have to be careful here because there is a tremendous amount of bias against Alabama by people in the media. Yeah, I said it,” Finebaum said Monday. “You read various columns and some people have Alabama [ranked] seven or eight. Right now, I don’t know how you can objectively say that. To me, Alabama looks like one of the four or five best teams in the country.
“You start doing comparison test and somebody this morning put Oklahoma ahead of them. I mean, are you out of your mind? Oklahoma is not better than Alabama.”
The knock against Alabama hasn’t necessarily been that it wouldn’t have a shot to win the national championship if given the opportunity, but that there are no quality wins on the resume. In the biggest game of the year against LSU, the Crimson Tide came up short.
And, with the loss to LSU, Alabama has no chance to bolster its case with an SEC title, as it will be sitting home watching the championship game on television. There really isn’t much of a case the Tide can make if they’re left out.
But, if enough strange things happen in the coming weeks, there’s a shot Alabama still makes the field. Whether or not it deserves that opportunity is another topic of conversation.
