Andy Katz unveils top 25 non-conference MBB matchups involving B1G teams
Andy Katz has ranked the top 25 non-conference, non-in-season tournament games involving B1G men’s basketball teams, and several of the top teams in the conference are featured. Several marquee contests are on the docket a season after the B1G sent an NCAA Tournament-high 9 teams to the Big Dance in March. Two of those teams, Michigan and Purdue, advanced to the Sweet 16.
Atop Katz’s list is an ACC/Big Ten Challenge contest between North Carolina and Indiana, set for Nov. 30 at Assembly Hall. The Tar Heels were a national semifinalist in March. That’s followed by one of the 2 CBS Sports Classic games scheduled for Dec. 17 at Madison Square Garden, Ohio State vs. North Carolina.
Nov. 11’s Armed Forces Classic between Michigan State and Gonzaga on the USS Abraham Lincoln, Indiana’s visit to defending national champion Kansas on Dec. 17, and Michigan’s game against Kentucky in London round out the top 5. The Wolverines and Wildcats were originally scheduled to play each other in the U.K. in Dec. 2020 before the game was rescheduled due to the pandemic.
