Announcing crew from Minnesota-Maryland game is getting destroyed on social media
Friday night’s overtime game between Maryland and Minnesota was a thrilling B1G contest that had everyone talking on social media. Much of the conversation was about the Terrapins’ 45-44 win over the Gophers, but a good chunk of it also involved the broadcast crew.
There are a lot of really good broadcast crews covering college football. Unfortunately, the tandem covering Friday night’s B1G game between Minnesota and Maryland did not receive rave reviews.
Throughout the course of the game, the tandem of Jason Benetti and Andre Ware were getting crushed on social media for their coverage of Friday night’s game. Plenty of folks watching the contest were chiming in on Twitter about the broadcast.
Ware caught most of the heat on Twitter, but some fans weren’t happy with anyone covering the game. Several might have went ahead and hit the mute button just a few minutes into the contest.
Here are some of the reactions from social media on Friday night:

This hideous crew doing the Maryland-Minn game are doing the same thing they were last week, talking about anything but the game. Earlier, all three idiots doing the game (including the rent-a-official) agreed with a fumble call on made on the field which was obviously…

Andre Ware played college football and is a longtime analyst.
He doesn’t know a missed FG is spotted at the line of scrimmage.

I usually don’t have problem with commentators. I can usually listen to anyone, but boy does Andre Ware suck as a commentator

.@jasonbenetti and Andre Ware might be the worst announcing crew of all time.
Without exaggeration I can confidently at I could do better.

Is Andre Ware watching this game on the radio?

What game is Andre Ware watching?

Dear announcers: please call the game

I know being a play-by-play guy and a TV broadcaster guy can’t be easy but these days in this UM/UM game have been pretty…pretty…bad

To be fair, calling games in 2020 is incredibly difficult. Networks are cutting back on staff and some games are being called from an in-studio booth or from a home office. That doesn’t make the job easy for anyone.
Plus, the game, at times, was a bit of a struggle, too.
Fans didn’t care. They took to Twitter to vent their frustrations, and let Friday night’s ESPN crew hear about it.
