AP Top 25: New Week 3 poll features 6 B1G programs
The AP Top 25 poll has been released following an eventful Week 2.
The Big Ten has 6 teams included this week. Ohio State is the Big Ten’s top-ranked team at No. 3 overall entering Week 3. Penn State and Oregon both made the top 10 while USC just missed out, coming in at No. 11.
Oregon struggled again in Week 2, needing a late charge to beat Boise State at home despite an inefficient game from Broncos quarterback Maddux Madsen. Penn State also floundered this weekend as it trailed Bowling Green at halftime before completing a comeback win.
Michigan fell way out of the top 10 all the way to No. 17 after it’s blowout home loss to Texas. Iowa also dropped out of the top 25 entirely after losing the Cy-Hawk game at home to rival Iowa State.
Nebraska is ranked for the first time since 2019. The Huskers came in at No. 23 this week.
The SEC has 8 teams ranked in the top 25 this week, including 6 in the top 10.
The SEC’s group of teams is headlined by Georgia, who retained the No. 1 overall spot this week after the Bulldogs took care of business with a 48-3 win over Tennessee Tech.
Texas crushed Michigan this week by the score of 31-12 in Ann Arbor. As a result of that performance, the Longhorns moved up to No. 2 in the country ahead of Ohio State.
Alabama, Ole Miss and Missouri all retained their spots in the top 10 this week following blowout wins over lesser competition. Tennessee was another big mover this week, moving all the way up to No. 7 following its blowout win over NC State.
