Bill Yoast, the former Virginia high school football coach who helped inspire the film Remember the Titans, has passed away at the age of 94, according to multiple reports.

FOX 5 DC reported Yoast’s passing on Friday. He died at Aarondale Retirement and Assisted Living in Springfield, Virginia.

Yoast was immortalized in the movie Remember the Titans, a movie based on the true story of a football team that overcame racial tensions in the city of Alexandria and unified to win a state championship in 1971. He was an assistant to head coach Herman Boone, who became the first African American coach at T.C. Williams High School.

Yoast coached football at T.C. Williams from 1971 through 1996, and also coached track and field and golf. In the movie, Yoast was played by actor Will Patton.

This is the second member of the T.C. Williams 1971 team to pass away in recent months. In January, defensive star Julius Campbell died at age 65.
