We’re officially less than two months away from the start of another college football season. You know what that means, right?

Projections are going to start pouring in over the next 50-plus days.

Recently, Athlon Sports released its bowl projections for the 2017 season. The bar has been set pretty high for the B1G.

The B1G was projected to have 10 of its 14 teams reach the postseason, with three playing in the New Year’s Six game. As you’ll recall, Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan all played in New Year’s Six games last season.

Here’s the list of B1G bowl projections, along with the expected opponent:

  • Armed Forces Bowl: Minnesota vs. Army
  • Quick Lane Bowl: Michigan State vs. Wake Forest
  • Pinstripe Bowl: Nebraska vs. North Carolina
  • Foster Farms Bowl: Iowa vs. Washington State
  • Holiday Bowl: Northwestern vs. Oregon
  • Music City Bowl: Indiana vs. Kentucky
  • Outback Bowl: Wisconsin vs. Tennessee
  • Cotton Bowl: Michigan vs. Oklahoma
  • Orange Bowl: Penn State vs. Clemson
  • Rose Bow (CFP Semifinal)l: Ohio State vs. Florida State
  • CFP National Championship: Ohio State vs. Alabama

You can view the full list of projections here.

Athlon Sports has projected Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan to return to the New Year’s Six games with the Buckeyes getting another bid to the College Football Playoff. It would be their third appearance in four seasons.

Ohio State is also expected to advance to play Alabama in the National Championship.

There are interesting matchups outside of the New Year’s Six, too. An Indiana-Kentucky matchup would bring a longtime basketball rivalry to the gridiron. Who wouldn’t love that in the postseason?

And a stout Iowa defense against a high-powered Washington State offense would certainly be interesting. And an Outback Bowl featuring Wisconsin vs. Tennessee could very-well pit the winner of the B1G West against the top team in the SEC East.

It would certainly be an entertaining postseason if these projections blossomed into reality.
