With another week in the books, the B1G announced some standout players heading into the middle of January.

Purdue center Zach Edey and Indiana guard Jalen Hood-Schifino have earned B1G conference weekly honors. Edey has been named Player of the Week, while Hood-Schifino was honored with the Freshman of the Week award.

As Purdue recorded wins against Penn State and Ohio State and a loss to Rutgers, Edey averaged 21.7 points, 62% shooting, and 12.7 rebounds. The center also added 3.3 assists and 1.7 blocked shots. Edey recorded another double-double, his 13th of the season. That number is fourth most in a season for a Purdue player in the last 40 years.

Hood-Schifino was named B1G Freshman of the Week with a stellar showing last week. In two games, the freshman averaged 27 points with 60.0% shooting, including 10-for-15 from three-point range in two games last week.

Although the Hoosiers lost out to the Hawkeyes, Hood-Schifino still racked up 21 points and 9 assists. The guard also set a career-high 33 points on 12-for-17 shooting.

This is the fourth time Edey has been named Player of the Week this season, and it’s the first conference honor for Hood-Schifino.
