It was another exciting week of college football in Week 3. Even if things aren’t going the way you’d hoped for your team, there is still plenty of time to turns it around.
The official B1G Players of the Week were announced on Monday. The conference had a good selection of performances, with 4 players earning the honors.
Here are the players that got selected:
Offensive Player of the Weekย
- QB C.J. Stroud, Ohio State
Stroud had another great showing against non-conference opponent Toledo on Saturday. He finished the game with 367 yards passing and 5 touchdowns. It looks like he was excited to have 2 of his top targets in Julian Fleming and Jaxon Smith-Njigba back in action. The Buckeyes take on Wisconsin next as conference play opens.

Defensive Player of the Week
- S Ji’Ayir Brown, Penn State
There was another great solo performance against Auburn from Penn State other than freshman RB Nicholas Singleton. That would be Ji’Ayir Brown. Brown helped shut down the Tigers’ offense with 5 total tackles, 1 forced fumble, and 1 interception in the 41-12 win at Auburn. Brown is showing that he’s still just as dominant after having 6 interceptions in 2021.

Freshman of the Week
- RB Nicholas Singleton, Penn State
It’s no surprise that Nicholas Singleton’s name is among the players of the week. His 124 yards rushing on 10 carries set the tone for the team’s win against Auburn on the road. Singleton is also the first true freshman to have 100-yard games on the ground in consecutive weeks since 2019. His college football career is off to a good start.
