Another weekend has come and gone with the B1G seeing some big-time performances in Week 8.

On Monday, the conference officially revealed the recipients of Players of the Week honors. In total, 4 stars were honored for the Week 8 action.

Offensive Player of the Week

  • QB Sean Clifford, Penn State

Regardless of how some Nittany Lion fans may feel about Clifford, he was an efficient star for Penn State against Minnesota. Clifford finished the game with 295 yards and 4 touchdowns against the Gophers.

With his performance, Clifford set the program record for games with 4+ passing touchdowns as the Nittany Lions responded to a loss at Michigan.

Defensive Player of the Week

  • DB John Torchio, Wisconsin

Torchio led a huge defensive effort for the Badgers with a pair of interceptions off Purdue QB Aidan O’Connell. That performance included a pick-6 on Purdue’s opening offensive possession and 10 tackles against the Boilermakers.

Special Teams Player of the Week

  • K Noah Ruggles, Ohio State

Ruggles got the Buckeyes going early against Iowa and finished with 4 made field goals in the big win. Combined with PATs, Ruggles ended the game with a career-high 18 points accounted for.

Freshman of the Week

  • RB Roman Hemby, Maryland

Playing without star QB Taulia Tagovailoa, Hemby stepped up in a big way over Week 8. He finished with a career-high 179 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns against Northwestern. That included a 75-yard game-winner late in the fourth quarter against the Wildcats.
