B1G announces Players of the Week following wild Week 12 slate

Week 12 of the college football season was a wild one around the country. As the top 4 teams around the country struggled against unranked opponents, No. 5 Tennessee was upended by South Carolina.

In the B1G, Ohio State and Michigan needed some second-half drama to dispatch of Maryland and Illinois, respectively. Now, those two programs are set for The Game with the B1G East and College Football Playoff positioning on the line.

Here are the B1G’s Players of the Week for Week 12:

Offensive Player of the Week

  • RB Mohamed Ibrahim, Minnesota

Ibrahim paced the Gophers with a career-best 263 rushing yards in the bitter loss to Iowa. He scored his 52nd career rushing TD, extending his program record.

Defensive Player of the Week

  • LB Jack Campbell, Iowa

Campbell finished Iowa’s win for Floyd of Rosedale with 10 tackles and added an interception and forced fumble while holding Minnesota to 10 points. Campbell’s interception and return set up the Hawkeyes for the eventual game-winning FG in the 4th quarter

Special Teams Player of the Week

  • K Jake Moody, Michigan

Moody made all 4 of his field goal attempts against Illinois and finished the game with 13 of Michigan’s 19 points in the comeback win. 3 of Moody’s field goals came in the 4th quarter as the Wolverines rallied for a win with less than a minute to go.

Co-Freshmen of the Week

  • RB Dallan Hayden, Ohio State
  • RB Kaytron Allen, Penn State

Hayden came up big for Ohio State with a second-half spark against Maryland. Hayden finished the game with a career-high 147 yards and 3 touchdowns in the win.

Allen rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown in Penn State’s big win over Rutgers. Combined with Nick Singleton to produce the first freshman Duo in B1G history with over 700 rushing yards in the same season.
