B1G bowl projections following Week 10

Wisconsin, Michigan State and Iowa did a lot for their bowl chances this weekend with wins over Maryland, Illinois and Purdue, respectively.

All 3 are now projected to reach bowl eligibility, with Wisconsin potentially playing itself into a halfway decent trip. Of course, the 3 that lost have fallen greatly other than Illinois.

The upper echelon of the B1G and the lower tier have separated themselves dramatically over the course of the season. Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State are in a world of their own – and the Wolverines and Buckeyes are even further up the ladder from the Nittany Lions.

Losses by Tennessee, Clemson and Alabama have opened the door for 2 potential B1G teams to enter the Playoff, but Tennessee still throws a damper in things. It has to be assumed the Vols will be above the Michigan-Ohio State loser with strong wins over LSU and Alabama. That’s assuming the Vols don’t lose again, and there’s still plenty of football to be played.

Ohio State and Michigan will battle for a CFP spot when they meet in Columbus to close the regular season on Nov. 26. As it has been all season, that will be the game to watch out for in the B1G.

On Saturday, Minnesota took care of business against Nebraska, officially reaching bowl eligibility. They’re the 6th B1G team to do so, joining Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Illinois and Maryland.

Rose Bowl: Michigan vs. Oregon

Citrus Bowl: Penn State vs. Alabama

Duke’s Mayo Bowl: Minnesota vs. Wake Forest

Pinstripe Bowl:  Maryland vs. Duke

Guaranteed Rate Bowl: Wisconsin vs Kansas

Quick Lane Bowl: Purdue vs. Eastern Michigan

Camellia Bowl: Iowa vs. Liberty
