Saturday was a good day for Iowa fans.

The Hawkeyes are winners of 3 in a row and, with a little help, could be in the race to win the B1G West after downing Wisconsin 24-10 Saturday.

The B1G West is jumbled after a Saturday that saw Purdue up its stock with a win over Illinois, Minnesota crawl back into things and Wisconsin fall back. Purdue has a favorable schedule and Iowa seems to be hot right now, so we’ll assume they finish best and get the better options come bowl season.

In the East, Michigan State is to be commended. The Spartans, with Indiana up next, are almost sure to reach 6-6 after beating Rutgers to get back to .500 at 5-5. They will still very likely be the last B1G team assigned to a bowl.

It’s a tight race, but it still seems with Tennessee’s resume and ease of remaining schedule that only 1 B1G program will reach the College Football Playoff barring a drastic turn of events. Ohio State will be the favorite until further notice. It will likely all come down to The Game in the regular season finale vs. Michigan. The loser is almost certain to play USC in the Rose Bowl following an Oregon loss to Washington Saturday night.
