If this reads like the same thing we wrote last week, there’s a reason for that: The Big Ten was as bad this weekend as it was last weekend.

No, check that: The B1G was worse.

The hot mess that has been this league’s nonconference schedule can’t end fast enough. Only five games remain for B1G teams out of conference and aside from Northwestern’s game Nov. 3 against Notre Dame, none of those games offer much of a chance for the league to repair its damaged reputation.

Aside from Ohio State’s fine win against TCU in Arlington, Texas, Saturday’s slate was full of B1G teams flopping, usually at home against teams from outside the Power 5.

Wisconsin takes a huge hit after losing at home to BYU, dropping out of the New Years Day 6 bowl picture and into the Outback Bowl. Indiana vaults into the projections though I am still not convinced about the Hoosiers.

And Northwestern stays around after losing to Akron because … well … somebody in the West has to reach six wins besides Wisconsin and Iowa, and maybe Minnesota, even if by accident. Right?

So, here are the latest bowl projections:

Bowl Game Matchup
CFP Semi (Cotton) Penn State vs. Georgia
Rose Bowl Ohio State vs. Washington
Citrus Bowl Michigan vs. Auburn
Outback Bowl Wisconsin vs. Missouri
TaxSlayer Bowl Iowa vs. South Carolina
Holiday Bowl Michigan State vs. Utah
Music City Bowl Maryland vs. Mississippi State
Pinstripe Bowl Indiana vs. Syracuse
Quick Lane Bowl Northwestern vs. Wake Forest
Heart of Dallas Bowl Minnesota vs. North Texas
