B1G East sets record with brilliant performance in nonconference play
The B1G East has won 8 straight matchups in the B1G Championship Game. If early returns in 2022 are any indication, that streak is not likely to be broken this season.
With Week 3 wrapping up, most teams in the B1G are headed for conference play right around the corner. That makes the records in the East division all that more impressive.

Coming out of Week 3, the B1G East still has 6 undefeated teams at 3-0. Michigan State is the lone team with a blemish, falling to Washington and a 2-1 record.
According to FOX analyst RJ Young, it is the first time in the history of the B1G that one division has had 6 undefeated teams following nonconference play.
The Big Ten East will begin conference play with six 3-0 teams out of seven.
That’s the most ever in one division of the B1G. First time it’s ever happened.

It will be interesting to see how – and when – those records shift as more and more teams fall in conference play. We’ll also see who comes out on top to represent one of the deepest divisions in college football for the B1G Championship Game in Indianapolis.
