The B1G has announced future plans for its football championship game location and sites for the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments.
On Wednesday, the conference announced that it has extended its relationship with the City of Indianapolis to host the B1G Football Championship Game through at least the 2024 season. Lucas Oil Stadium has always been the site of the league’s title game.
Future dates for the B1G Championship Game are:
- Dec. 3, 2022
- Dec. 2, 2023
- Dec. 7, 2024
On the basketball side, the B1G Men’s Basketball Tournament will be held in Chicago from March 8-12, 2023 at the United Center. It will then make its first-ever trip to Minneapolis for the 2024 event.
Each of the next two seasons, the B1G Women’s Basketball Tournament will be held in Minneapolis. The 2023 event will take place from March 1-5.
“We are thrilled to bring marquee conference events such as the Big Ten Football Championship Game and the Big Ten Basketball Tournaments to world-class cities and venues within the conference footprint,” said B1G commissioner Kevin Warren. “Indianapolis and Minneapolis each have a strong history and tradition of hosting some of the world’s premier events in cities that feature an exceptional base of Big Ten Conference alumni and fans.
“We look forward to creating new memories and experiences for our student-athletes, coaches, and member institutions, further expanding our fanbase, cultivating relationships with the business community, and fostering a positive and lasting impact on these cities.”
