Everyone and their mother knows the top three teams in the Big Ten East division and Iowa from the West division have the best chances of winning the conference this season. That winner typically has a chance at winning the College Football Playoff at the end of the year.

But, what about the other teams? BTN.com’s Tom Dienhart asked several Big Ten media members to select a dark horse team entering 2016.

Nebraska, Penn State and Maryland each got one vote to be the conference’s dark horse, but it was Minnesota who garnered two votes.

“Minnesota,” said Chris Childers of SiriusXM Radio. “Love their defense and they bring back an abundance of skill players on offense.”

The other person to pick Minnesota was Marc Morehouse of the Cedar Rapids Gazette.

“I still wonder if the passing game will be a struggle, but the guts of a physical team are there,” he said.
