After an eventful Saturday in the B1G, the conference has announced its Players of the Week following the action from Week 8.
Several familiar faces earned honors this week after stellar performances. Without further adieu, here are the players the B1G selected as this week’s Players of the Week.
Penn State’s Saquon Barkley was named the Offensive Player of the Week for a third time this season after accounting for 176 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns in the Nittany Lions’ 42-13 win over Michigan.

The B1G named co-Defensive Players of the Week this time, splitting the honors between Michigan State’s Joe Bachie and Penn State’s Jason Cabinda. Bachie totaled 13 tackles and had 0.5 tackles for loss against Indiana. Cabinda also had 13 stops and recorded a sack against Michigan.

Northwestern punter Hunter Niswander earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors after averaging over 50 yards per punt on Saturday against Iowa. He also booted a ball 80 yards and pinned the Hawkeyes at their own 2-yard line in the game.

The Freshman of the Week is going to just become the Jonathan Taylor Award before long. For the third straight week and fourth time this season, the Wisconsin freshman took home the honors after rushing for 126 yards and touchdown against Maryland. He also caught a pass for 24 yards.
