You already knew about Ohio State and Penn State.

By virtue of making the College Football Playoff, the Buckeyes are heading to the Fiesta Bowl. By virtue of winning the B1G Championship and not making the CFP, Penn State is going to the Rose Bowl.

That much we knew. The question was about Michigan and Wisconsin. Could those teams make a New Year’s Six game?

As we found out two-and-a-half hours into the selection show, yes. Both will play in one of the top six bowl games.

  • Fiesta Bowl, Dec. 31 (CFP): No. 3 Ohio State vs. No. 2 Clemson
  • Rose Bowl, Jan. 2: No. 5 Penn State vs. No. 9 USC
  • Orange Bowl, Dec. 30: No. 6 Michigan vs. No. 11 Florida State
  • Cotton Bowl, Jan. 2: No. 15 Western Michigan vs. No. 8 Wisconsin

None of those matchups should be much of a surprise. The only question was whether Penn State would get USC or Colorado and who Michigan would face.

It’s safe to say that we’re going to have some dynamic matchups in the next four weeks.
