Eight different B1G teams were represented on CBS Sports’ preseason All-America teams.

More than half the conference had some sort of All-American honoree on one of their preseason teams, which were released on Tuesday. And while it was most of the usual suspects, there were a couple minor surprises within the B1G.

Here were the B1G players who made the cut:

CBS Sports First Team

  • TE — Jake Butt, Michigan
  • C — Pat Elflein, Ohio State
  • OL — Dan Feeney, Indiana
  • DT — Malik McDowell, Michigan State
  • LB — Raekwon McMillan, Ohio State
  • CB — Desmond King, Iowa

Second Team

  • C — Brian Allen, Michigan State
  • OL — Dan Voltz, Wisconsin
  • LB — Anthony Walker, Northwestern
  • LB — Jabrill Peppers, Michigan
  • CB — Jourdan Lewis, Michigan
  • PR — William Likely, Maryland

There weren’t any surprises among the six players who made the first team, but there were a couple surprising omissions. Both Jourdan Lewis and Jabrill Peppers were second-team honorees.

Lewis, of course, earned All-America honors last year and is considered by many as one of the top two cornerbacks in the country. Peppers, on the other hand, is technically playing a new position but is still generating plenty of hype as a preseason All-American.

Also, Michigan State’s Brian Allen was listed as a second-team center, but he isn’t playing center this year. He’s actually the starting left guard.

But hey, it’s their list.
