Pro Football Focus has been high on programs from the B1G this season. More specifically, the website has praised several players for their attention to detail on the gridiron.

Entering the midway point of the 2022 season, PFF released its highest-graded defensive players entering Week 7. The list featured 6 players from the B1G, including PFF’s Defensive Player of Week 6 in Rutgers’ Aaron Lewis.

Others listed included Illinois defensive tackle Jer’Zhan Newton, Michigan defensive end Mike Morris, Michigan State defensive end Jacoby Windmon and Penn State defensive end Chop Robinson and cornerback Kalen King.

Newton, PFF’s highest-graded player from the conference, has been on a tear this season in Champaign. In 6 games, the 6-foot-2, 295-pound defender has registered 33 total tackles in 33 sacks. PFF graded him a 90.7.

Lewis, who was given a grade of 89.1, has tallied 21 total tackles and a sack. Windom, who leads the conference in sacks (5.5), was given a grade of 86.8. King, who graded out with an 88.1, has recorded 10 tackles and 6 pass deflections in 5 appearances this season.

King, Robinson and Morris all will have a chance to impress PFF, along with several NFL programs, this weekend in Ann Arbor when the No. 5 Wolverines host the No. 10 Nittany Lions at Noon. Windmon’s Spartans will host Wisconsin while Newton and the Illini will remain home to take on Minnesota.

Lewis and the Scarlet Knights are on a bye this week. They will return next Saturday to take on Indiana.
