B1G program tied for 4th most penalties in country through Week 7
The Maryland Terrapins have made a top 5 list, but not for a good reason.
The Terps are currently tied for the 4th-most penalties committed in 2022. Alabama leads the league with 66, followed by Utah State with 65, UMass with 60, and Houston and Maryland both have 59. The Terps are averaging 8.4 penalties per game, and a staggering 10.3 on average at home.

In 2021, the Terps were more middle-of-the-pack in this area, finishing the season with 87 penalties.
Even with the massive amount of penalties, the Terps find themselves in a decent position through 7 weeks. The team is 5-2 overall and 2-2 in the B1G. In tightly-contested conference games, penalties could make an enormous impact.
After defeating Indiana, the Terps will play host to Northwestern in Week 8.
