It could end up being basically unanimous.

You can pretty much pencil in the eight B1G players tabbed as preseason first-team All-Americans. Most of them received some sort of All-American nod last year, and most of them are on the defensive side of the ball.

Sports Illustrated came out with its annual preseason All-American teams. Not surprisingly, the usual preseason B1G suspects cracked the first team. Those players were:

  • TE: Jake Butt, Michigan
  • OG: Dan Feeney, Indiana
  • C: Pat Elflein, Ohio State
  • DT: Malik McDowell, Michigan State
  • LB: Raekwon McMillan, Ohio State
  • LB: Jabrill Peppers, Michigan
  • CB: Desmond King, Iowa
  • CB: Jourdan Lewis, Michigan

It’d be a surprise to see any of those players not on preseason All-America teams. It’s still rare to see the B1G own both cornerback spots, but that could be a unanimous opinion heading into 2016.

The B1G was actually tied with the SEC for most first-team All-Americans of any conference.

Sports Illustrated also came out with second-team All-Americans, which featured two familiar B1G faces. Anthony Walker, AKA “The Franchise,” got the nod at one of the linebacker spots while triple-threat William Likely was named the second-team returner.

It’ll be interesting to see if any B1G player not in that group of 10 gets named to any preseason All-America teams.
