Sunday’s B1G Championship Game between Ohio State and Illinois was the most-watched college basketball contest of the 2020-21 season. CBS Sports released the information on Tuesday.
CBS revealed that Sunday’s overtime showdown between the Buckeyes and Fighting Illini had plenty of eyeballs, resulting in the network’s most-watched game of the season. There were over 3.6 million viewers tuned into the finale from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
“CBS Sports’ Coverage of the Big Ten Championship Game is the Most-Watched College Basketball Game of the Season on Any Network, Earning 3.678 Million Viewers,” the statement said. “Illinois’ Overtime Victory over Ohio State Peaked with 5.783 Million Viewers from 6:00-6:09 p.m. ET.”

Illinois defeated Ohio State 91-88 to solidify a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and claim the B1G Tournament title. The Buckeyes received a No. 2 seed in the tournament.
The Top 6 most-watched games of the 2020-21 college basketball season all aired on CBS Sports, per the release.
