Well, that didn’t take long.

The B1G successfully made it through one week of the college football season before the league had to cancel a game. Wisconsin announced on Wednesday that it was putting all football activities on hold for 7 days following a spike in positive cases. That means the Badgers’ Saturday showdown against Nebraska is of the table.

It’s an unfortunate circumstance, but this is 2020. We should’ve expected something like this to happen, right?

Now, here’s some good news: There are still 6 B1G games on the schedule this weekend. And we’re eager to get our selections in for some really intriguing Week 2 matchups.

First, a recap of how last week went for our four pickers:

  • Connor O’Gara (National Columnist): 4-3
  • Dustin Schutte (Managing Editor): 4-3
  • Ryan O’Gara (B1G Columnist): 3-4
  • Paul Harvey (News Editor/Writer): 2-5

We’ve got a pretty heated race after one week. Here are Week 2 B1G picks against the spread:

Minnesota (-19.5) vs. Maryland (Friday, Oct. 30)

Both Minnesota and Maryland were rocked in their season openers. Which team bounces back and gets to .500 and which enters Week 3 still searching for its first victory?

Connor O’Gara: Minnesota (-19.5)

Dustin Schutte: Minnesota (-19.5)

Ryan O’Gara: Minnesota (-19.5)

Paul Harvey: Minnesota (-19.5)

Michigan State vs. #13 Michigan (-24.5)

The “state championship” in Michigan. The Wolverines are heavy favorites after a 25-point road win over Minnesota and the Spartans’ dreadful loss to Rutgers. Can Sparty keep it close or is U-M still rolling after Week 2?

Connor O’Gara: Michigan (-24.5)

Dustin Schutte: Michigan State (+24.5)

Ryan O’Gara: Michigan (-24.5)

Paul Harvey: Michigan State (+24.5)

Purdue (-7) vs. Illinois

The Boilers didn’t need head coach Jeff Brohm or wide receiver Rondale Moore to beat Iowa. Illinois was exposed defensively in a blowout loss to Wisconsin. It’s still a fairly close spread, despite two very different outcomes.

Connor O’Gara: Purdue (-7)

Dustin Schutte: Purdue (-7)

Ryan O’Gara: Illinois (+7)

Paul Harvey: Purdue (-7)

#17 Indiana (-12) vs. Rutgers

Believe it or not, both teams are sky high after big wins over the weekend. Now, both Indiana and Rutgers have a chance to start the season 2-0, which not many would’ve have expected from these two programs.

Connor O’Gara: Rutgers (+12)

Dustin Schutte: Indiana (-12)

Ryan O’Gara: Rutgers (+12)

Paul Harvey: Indiana (-12)

Northwestern vs. Iowa (-2.5)

Is Northwestern’s offense that improved, or was Maryland that bad? Can Iowa bounce back after a crushing loss to Purdue? This is an interesting game to keep an eye on in the B1G West on Saturday.

Connor O’Gara: Iowa (-2.5)

Dustin Schutte: Iowa (-2.5)

Ryan O’Gara: Iowa (-2.5)

Paul Harvey: Northwestern (+2.5)

#3 Ohio State (-12.5) vs. #18 Penn State

The premier matchup of Week 2. It lost a little luster with Ohio State thumping Nebraska and Penn State’s loss to Indiana. But, hey, it’s 2020, anything can happen. The Buckeyes are a two-touchdown favorite in Happy Valley.

Connor O’Gara: Ohio State (-12.5)

Dustin Schutte: Ohio State (-12.5)

Ryan O’Gara: Ohio State (-12.5)

Paul Harvey: Ohio State (-12.5)

#9 Wisconsin vs. Nebraska (Canceled)*
