Best CFB team in history? Colin Cowherd believes Clemson may claim that title
People have been debating for years about which team was the greatest in the history of college football. There are a lot of compelling arguments for a lot of teams from the past.
The debate could be settled this year though, according to Colin Cowherd. The FOX Sports personality believes that Clemson’s 2019 squad has a chance to etch its name in history as the best football team ever in the college game.
He makes a pretty convincing case, too.
Cowherd believes that Clemson has all the playmakers on both sides of the ball, paired with tremendous incoming talent, do have a really special year. And that’s saying something, considering the Tigers went a perfect 15-0 last year and won the national title.
“I think they have a chance to be the best college team of all time,” Cowherd said. “By the way, Alabama’s got the best dynasty I’ve ever seen, but there’s not one team that, if I said to you, ‘What’s the best Alabama team ever?'”
So what separates Clemson from some of those really good Alabama teams? Trevor Lawrence.
“Basically, Clemson has Alabama’s talent but with the best college quarterback of my life.”

Lawrence is already considered a future No. 1 overall draft pick and a Heisman Trophy candidate after just one year at Clemson — granted it was a really good one. But quarterback play has been an issue with the Crimson Tide in the past, although Tua Tagovailoa seems to be changing that narrative, too.
With the ACC having such a weak conference, not many will buy into Clemson having the best team in college football history. But if they have a run similar to the one last year, the Tigers will certainly be in the conversation.
