Betting on college football has grown in popularity over the years. And with new state gambling laws in the works, the interest will likely increase.

Considering the fact that sports betting has become so popular, PennLive columnist David Jones came out with an interesting article, citing the 10 best, and 10 worst, college football teams against the spread. A few B1G teams made this list, on both sides of the spread.

According to Jones, Illinois came in at No. 116 against the spread and Michigan followed behind at No. 117. The Illini have a 51-70 record against the spread for a .421 mark. The Wolverines also sit at .421, compiling a 52-72-2 record against the spread.

It’s not surprising that Kansas was the worst, with a .413 percentage.

On the flip side, Ohio State and Wisconsin have been among some of the best teams against the spread. With a 76-56-1 record, the Buckeyes sat at No. 7 on the list. The Badgers were two spots higher at No. 5, with a 76-55-3 mark and a .578 percentage.

The best team against the spread? Temple

Yeah, that’s probably not a team you’d expect, but the Owls have acquired a 77-47-1 record against the spread, an impressive .620 percentage.

So what’s the lesson here? If you’re making bets on the B1G, put your money on Ohio State and Wisconsin, not Michigan or Illinois.
