Beth Holtz, wife of former Notre Dame head coach Lou Holtz, dies at 83
Beth Holtz, the wife of former Notre Dame (1986-96) and South Carolina (1999-2004) head coach Lou Holtz has died. She was 83.
247Sports reported that Beth Holtz died after a long battle with throat cancer. She went through 83 radiation treatments while fighting the illness. Lou and Beth Holtz were married for nearly 59 years.

Lou and Beth Holtz were married in 1961. Lou Holtz retired from coaching in 2004, his final season at South Carolina. He also was the head coach at William & Mary (1969-71), NC State (1972-75), Arkansas (1977-83) and Minnesota (1984-85).
