Big brother, little sister: Michigan-Michigan State players engage in pushing, shoving after play
Michigan and Michigan State don’t like each other. Who knew?
Sometimes the Wolverines don’t call the Spartans a rival because of what Michigan-Ohio State means, but we all know that these two in-state schools hate each other. A lot of the players each and every year know each other.
They played against or with each other in high school. They would meet up in the playoffs.

There is hatred there, and, that’s OK. After a play in the second quarter of the Wolverines-Spartans game, pushing and shoving occurred between Michigan DL Michael Dwumfour and Michigan State TE Matt Seybert:

This is almost an expectations in any rivalry game. Imagine Michigan playing Michigan State and there being no after-the-whistle stuff going on?
It would be quite odd. The referees are likely aware of that fact.
