Leading up to the release, it was already reported that the B1G was going to maintain the East and West Divisional format for one more season in 2023. That proved true with the official schedule release for next year. The B1G is expected to reevaluate the format when USC and UCLA join in 2024.

As in past seasons, the B1G will some conference games out of the way to open the season. In Week 1, Nebraska will play at Minnesota, Ohio State will play at Indiana and Northwestern will play at Rutgers.
