
Big Ten basketball reveals All-B1G team, individual honors for 2024-25 season
The 2024-25 Big Ten basketball season is heading for the Big Ten Basketball Tournament, meaning it is time to hand out some individual honors!
On Tuesday, the B1G confirmed the full list of All-B1G honors, including the Player of the Year recipients. As for the overall Player of the Year, that distinction went to Purdue point guard Braden Smith, giving the Boilermakers 3 straight POTY honors.
Zach Edey captured the award the past 2 seasons before Smith took the lead role for the program this year. Smith averaged career-best numbers with 16.3 points, 8.8 assists and 2.3 steals while shooting 39.7% from 3-point range.

Smith also headlines the first-team All-B1G recipients. Purdue teammate Trey Kaufman-Renn, John Tonje (Wisconsin) and Brice Williams (Nebraska) were consensus first-team players between the coaches and media. Derik Queen (Maryland) was the 5th first-team player for the coaches while Vladislav Goldin (Michigan) was a first-team player per the media.
Remarkably, B1G champion Michigan State won the league by 3 games without a single player on the first or second-team All-B1G teams. Freshman Jase Richardson was a consensus third-team selection while Jaden Akins received a third-team honor from the coaches.

Derik Queen was also the B1G Freshman of the Year for Maryland who finished 2nd in the conference. He averaged 15.7 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block for the Terrapins in a dynamic performance.
Illinois forward Will Riley took home the conference’s 6th Man of the Year honor. He averaged 12.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists as a spark plug for Brad Underwood’s squad.
Penn State guard Ace Baldwin Jr. was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year. Baldwin averaged 2.4 steals and also led the Nittany Lions in scoring (14 points) and assists (7.1).
