The NCAA Tournament is rolling into the weekend, turning the calendar to Saturday and Day 3 of the Big Dance!

True to its nickname, March Madness has produced another fair share of buzzer beaters and upsets throughout the Round of 64. Now, teams will hit the court with a chance to play their way into the Sweet 16 in action across Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday’s games will feature a pair of B1G teams in action after wins by Michigan State and Illinois on Thursday. The Spartans will be underdogs in a crucial showdown vs. North Carolina while the Illini look to be healthy favorites.

Here are the matchups and lines to be aware of, and be sure to continue tracking the latest March Madness trends with Tradition’s Ohio sports betting links and apps:

9 Michigan State vs. 1 North Carolina | 5:30 p.m. ET | CBS

The Spartans advanced into the Round of 32 with a win over 8-seed Mississippi State in impressive fashion. In the process, Tom Izzo added to his record of NCAA Tournament victories as a lower seed and will look to add another Saturday evening. On the other side, North Carolina rolled past 16-seed Wagner with a double-double from Armando Bacot and a sharpshooting effort from RJ Davis.

3 Illinois vs. 11 Duquesne | 8:40 p.m. ET | TNT

Illinois started slowly against Morehead State before waking up to deliver 85 points in a double-digit victory. Terrence Shannon Jr. continued his elite scoring run with 26 points while Marcus Domask produced a triple-double in the victory. Meanwhile, Duquesne danced its way into the NCAA Tournament with an Atlantic 10 Tournament title and delivered a big-time upset of 6-seed BYU in the Round of 64. The Dukes will now try to slow down Illinois’ high-flying offensive attack with a shot at the Sweet 16.

OVER 147.5 points in Illinois vs. Duquesne (via ESPN Bet)

In the Round of 64 game, Illinois lived up to its slow start reputation to perfection before waking up. The final outcome was not close, but the Illini showed their defense continues to be susceptible at times, and I’m not sure there’s any game on the bracket where it won’t be a liability. Duquesne averages right at 71 points per game and shoots the ball at a 34% clip from 3-point range. Even if the Illini are able to flex their offensive muscle, the Dukes will score enough to push this one over the point total.

North Carolina -3.5 (via ESPN Bet) over Michigan State

At the risk of ignoring my own advice, I believe this line is just a bit too low for Saturday night’s game. Michigan State facing Mississippi State was a textbook matchup for Izzo’s group. The Tar Heels are built differently as one of a handful of teams to rank in the top-20 teams for both adjusted offensive and defensive efficiency per KenPom. Simply put, it’s just not a good matchup for the Spartans. With Izzo preparing his team better than anyone else on a short turnaround, I do expect a spirited effort from MSU. However, watch for late free throws from the Tar Heels to push this one beyond the 3.5 points line.

Marcus Domask UNDER 27.5 combined points + rebounds + assists (via DraftKings)

Though Terrence Shannon Jr. led the Illini in scoring vs. Morehead State, it was Domask who stole the show with a triple-double. All combined, Domask finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists with just 2 turnovers. (For those unaware, that gives Domask 33 combined points + rebounds + assists from that game.) Domask has been fantastic for the Illini all season long, and I don’t necessarily see him taking a step back against Duquesne. I just don’t see another triple-double, and, without one, it will be tough for Domask to eclipse the 27.5 combined number.
