The Week 4 slate of the college football season has wrapped up with some dramatic finishes and electric individual performances. On Monday, the B1G officially dropped the Player of the Week honors as we turn the calendar into Week 5 and the final September Saturday of the season.

Offensive Player of the Week

  • Bryce Kirtz, Northwestern WR

Kirtz recorded 10 catches for 215 yards and 2 touchdowns in a comeback vs. Minnesota. That total is the 4th-highest single-game receiving mark in Northwestern history. One of Kirtz’s catches went for 80 yards, the 6th-longest pass play in Wildcat history

Defensive Player of the Week

  • Lathan Ransom, Ohio State S

Ransom set career-high marks in total tackles (13) and solo tackles (7) against Notre Dame. Came up with one key stop on a crucial 4th down and also registered a QB hurry in the win.

Special Teams Player of the Week

  • Nathanial Vakos, Wisconsin K

Vakos delivered a perfect kicking performance with 3 field goals and 3 extra points for 12 total points in Wisconsin’s 38-17 win. He’s the only kicker in the B1G to convert every field goal this season with at least 5 tries on the year.

Freshman of the Week

  • Darius Taylor, Minnesota RB

Taylor accounted for 216 all-purpose yards and rushed for 198 yards against Northwestern. He leads the B1G in rushing with 532 yards and has 3 straight games with at least 135 rushing yards, compiling his 3rd straight Freshman of the Week honor in the process.
