Just like that, Week 10 of the 2023 season is a thing of the past! The November slate has hit in full force, and fans have just 3 weeks left to savor the regular season.

Around the B1G, it was another week of upheaval and upsets in the B1G West as Iowa returned to the top of the division. Remarkably, the Hawkeyes appear destined to win the division and head to Indy for the league title game.

As for the top teams in the B1G, Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State all won though it was the Buckeyes that struggled a bit on the road. Despite entering the weekend No. 1 in the CFP rankings, the Buckeyes needed a second-half rally to put Rutgers away.

Moving forward, every game has increased stakes, and the finish to the regular season should be fantastic. Here is how Tradition’s Big Ten Power Rankings looking heading toward Week 11:

14. Purdue (2-7)

Last week: at Michigan, L 41-13

Ryan Walters was not shy about his thoughts related to Michigan this week, and he doubled down after the game. Unfortunately, it didn’t change the outcome with Hudson Card going just 12-for-28 passing the ball and the Boilermakers outmatched in every facet of the game.

13. Indiana (3-6)

Last week: vs. Wisconsin, W 20-14

Indiana captured its first B1G victory of the season with a dramatic performance against the Badgers. Playing in front of the home crowd, Indiana forced 2 turnovers and held Wisconsin to an 0-for-3 effort on fourth down. QB Brendan Sorsby accounted for both touchdowns in the win.

12. Michigan State (3-6)

Last week: vs. Nebraska, W 20-17

Similar to Indiana, the Spartans snapped their league losing streak and captured their first B1G win of the season against Nebraska. Montorie Foster Jr. provided some big plays, including the game-clinching TD grab. A team that has battled turnover problems, Michigan State finished the game +3 in that department.

11. Northwestern (4-5)

Last week: vs. Iowa, L 10-7

Somehow, the game that produced a historically low over/under was even worse than could have been imagined. Northwestern finally cracked the end zone with 1:50 left in the game at Wrigley Field, but the Hawkeyes kicked a 52-yard field goal with 14 seconds left for the win.

10. Illinois (4-5)

Last week: at Minnesota, W 27-26

Nothing can keep Bret Bielema from beating Minnesota, not even Luke Altmyer getting knocked out of the game with a 4th-and-11 due up with the game on the line. Insert backup Johnn Paddock who went from not throwing a pass all game to going 3-for-3 for 85 yards and a game-winning touchdown in an improbable win. Bielema improved to 10-0 vs. the Gophers in this one.

9. Minnesota (5-4)

Last week: vs. Illinois, L 27-26

How? Yes, Illinois’ defense was remarkably tougher once Johnny Newton’s first-half suspension concluded, but how did PJ Fleck manage to lose this one? The short answer is a string of defensive miscues on Illinois’ game-winning drive, but… how?

8. Maryland (5-4)

Last week: vs. Penn State, L 51-15

Remember when Maryland was 5-0 this season? Despite Taulia Tagovailoa playing out of his mind entering halftime, the Terrapins were down two scores and would get blown away in the second half. Mike Locksley needs to push some buttons quickly to get this team into a bowl game.

7. Wisconsin (5-4)

Last week: at Indiana, L 20-14

The absence of Braelon Allen was felt in this one. Wisconsin did rush for 101 yards but produced 2 turnovers on fumbles, and the 3.6 yards per carry speaks to the lack of efficiency. In the end, Braedyn Locke was unable to rally the Badgers on the road.

6. Nebraska (5-4)

Last week: at Michigan State, L 20-17

It’s hard not to wonder if Nebraska cost itself a shot at a bowl game in the immediate aftermath of Week 10. The Huskers need just one more but have games against Maryland, Wisconsin and Iowa to finish the season. Matt Rhule’s team must find a way to cut down on turnovers after Heinrich Haarberg was credited with 3 in the loss.

5. Iowa (7-2)

Last week: vs. Northwestern, W 10-7

There are times when it feels like Iowa is trolling the entire country this season. The two scoring drives for the Hawkeyes consisted of 25 yards on the TD drive and 37 yards on the game-winning field goal drive. Somehow, Iowa is 7-2 and controls its own destiny in the B1G West.

4. Rutgers (6-3)

Last week: vs. Ohio State, L 35-16

Rutgers did what it could in Week 10, and that approach had Ohio State on the ropes for a long time in Week 10. It’s fair to wonder what could have happened if Ohio State does turn things around with a 93-yard pick-6 to open the second half. There’s no need for the Scarlet Knights to hang their heads, and this team has some winnable games left on the schedule.

3. Penn State (8-1)

Last week: at Maryland, W 51-15

Since the loss to Ohio State, Drew Allar has looked a lot better, including tying his career-high with 4 touchdowns against Maryland. The defense continued its brilliant work and will now brace for its next tough task on the schedule with a visit from Michigan.

2. Ohio State (9-0)

Last week: at Rutgers, W 35-16

Is Ohio State fully prepared for the stretch run? That remains to be seen, but the Buckeyes have been a confounding mix of slow starts and impressive finishes this season. Ohio State might be the best in the B1G, or a slow start in The Game could produce an embarrassing result down the road. Time will tell.

1. Michigan (9-0)

Last week: vs. Purdue, W 41-13

Yeah, there’s noise surrounding Ann Arbor, but it hasn’t penetrated the program yet. JJ McCarthy remained efficient, though he somehow managed to avoid scoring in the blowout win. Blake Corum added a hat trick in the rout as he tries to climb further up Michigan’s all-time record books.
