Big Ten reveals Players of the Week from Week 12 action
The Big Ten is turning the calendar to Week 13 and a full slate of Rivalry Week action. Coming out of Week 12, the conference unveiled the full host of Players of the Week following the action.
Overall, the league unveiled 4 standout performers from the Week 12 action.

Offensive Player of the Week
- Maliq Carr, Michigan State TE
Carr delivered a career-high 9 catches for 100 yards with 2 touchdowns as the Spartans recaptured the Old Brass Spittoon from Indiana. Became the first Spartan TE with 100 yards in a game since Dion Sims in 2012 and delivered the game-winning TD with 4 minutes left in the game.

Defensive Player of the Week
- Mike Sainristil, Michigan DB
Sainristil came up with 2 interceptions against Maryland for his first career game with multiple picks. His first interception came near midfield and led to a TD drive for the Wolverines in the 31-24 win over Maryland.
Special Teams Player of the Week
- Tory Taylor, Iowa P
Iowa’s star punter delivered an average of 51.6 yards per punt with 8 punts in Iowa’s 15-13 win over Illinois. Six of Taylor’s punts traveled 50+ yards and downed 2 punts inside the 20.
Freshman of the Week
- Katin Houser, Michigan State QB
Houser set career-high numbers for completions, yards and touchdowns while going 26-of-41 for 245 yards and 3 touchdowns in MSU’s win over Indiana. Delivered a 75-yard drive to score the game-winning TD in the 24-21 win over the Hoosiers. He is the first Spartan to win Freshman of the Week honors since Ricky White in 2020.
