The B1G basketball regular season has officially come to a close. Attention now turns to the Big Ten Tournament, set to be played over 5 days at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

Twelve teams were in action on the final Sunday of the regular season.

With 20 conference games played, Purdue was the outright champion, going 17-3 for the regular-season crown and No. 1 seed in the conference tourney. The Boilermakers are on track to be the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Two teams, Nebraska and Northwestern, finished 12-8 for seeds Nos. 3 and 4. There was a 3-way tie of teams finishing 10-10: Indiana, Iowa and Michigan State. Three more finished at 9-11: Ohio State, Minnesota and Penn State. Maryland and Rutgers each finished 7-13 and will play on the opening day of action.

The B1G tourney’s bottom 4 seeds play in the First Round, on Wednesday. The 5-10 seeds join the fun on Thursday in the Second Round, in which 8 teams will play 4 games.

The top 4 seeds – Purdue, Illinois, Nebraska and Northwestern – receive double-byes. They will not play their first B1G tourney games until Friday’s quarterfinals.

Saturday’s semifinals will feature the 4 winners from Friday in 2 games. The Big Ten Tournament champion will be crowned on Sunday before the NCAA Tournament field is set.
