The Big Ten is handing out its awards for the standout performers in Week 3. These 4 players starred in nonconference action as the B1G prepares for an increased start to conference play in Week 4.

Offensive Player of the Week

  • RB Kyle Monangai, Rutgers

In a dominant win over Virginia Tech, Monangai rushed for 143 yards and a career-high 3 touchdowns. He becomes the first Scarlet Knight player to reach 100+ rushing yards in back-to-back games since the 2016 season. Monangai’s biggest highlight came with a 55-yard touchdown during a one-score game in the fourth quarter.

Defensive Player of the Week

  • S Hunter Wohler, Wisconsin

Wohler recorded 2 interceptions and a team-high 10 tackles in a win over Georgia Southern. He’s the first Badger with multiple interceptions in a game since John Torchio on Oct. 22 last season. Wohler is also the first Wisconsin defender with 10+ tackles in 3 straight games since Leo Chenal.

Special Teams Player of the Week

  • WR Braedan Wisloski, Maryland

Wisloski provided a spark during Maryland’s comeback win with a 98-yard kickoff return touchdown. It was Wisloski’s first career touchdown and the first kickoff return touchdown for a Terp since Javon Leake in 2019.

Freshman of the Week

  • RB Darius Taylor, Minnesota

Taylor earned the B1G’s top freshman in back-to-back weeks after rushing for 138 yards and a touchdown against North Carolina. He becomes the first true freshman for the Gophers to hit 100+ yards in back-to-back weeks since Laurence Maroney in 2003.
